Emily's Quilt

This was seriously one of the most fun quilts I've ever done. Emily has been in dance since she was a tiny wee child, and this year she went off to college, leaving behind all her dance costumes.  Her mother, Miriam, is a good friend and together we went through the stash and decided what we should use.

Miriam decided on a crazy, which is one of my most favorite kinds of quilts to do and the result is so fantastic.

Here are all the squares finished and laid out on the bed

Don't you just love all the sequins and fringe?

And here it is finished and ready to go home:

For the back I found this really beautiful plum colored velveteen

And some close ups:
 The poodle skirt

 A heart buckle

Another buckle and a ton of fringe

Miriam thinks this looks like the Eiffel Tower upside down and I thinks she's right.  This zipper is appliqued onto the purple plaid to give contrast and texture.

The golden sequins were so fun to work with...

All quilts by kate are one-of-a-kind originals. A quilt like this would be priced at $450.

Finished Feb. 2013
